Shamanism... Rev. Richard Lyon
Shamanism names the oldest form of spiritual
practice developed by our human ancestors. It goes back at east 40,000 years. Shamanism is universal: to this day, shamanism is practiced
in indigenous cultures all over the world, from Australia to Siberia to Africa, Alaska to Peru. Through anthropological studies, we know, too,
that the techniques from these many traditions share a remarkable amount of similarities -- testimony to the universal connections with
spirit which are cultivated. In this talk, Richard Lyon will discuss the universal tenets of shamanism, and lead a ritual journey in which all may
participate.Sunday April 20th, 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs
Serving the Greater Good... Robbie Griffee
As we bid fond adieu to April 15, it's time to start planning on
how we can support our UU family with our presence, our gifts and our service. Our love for the greater good in action. Action that characterizes
a spiritually centered life. Action that flows from your personal relationship to the sacred and commitment to what you believe and to what the UU
church represents. It is representing the sacred using the gifts you've been given, wherever you may be, and in whatever you say and do. Through
knowledge of and your openness to be a channel for the sacred, you will come to know and share your divine nature and will be empowered to share
that love with the world around you as unconditionally as humanly possible. Being in touch with that grace, your divine nature, is a lifelong,
sometimes minute to minute, process. Being open to it is the key.
Robbie is a former teacher and aquatic director. She's been a Certified Laughter Leader for the World Laughter Tour and dabbles in watercolor and pastel art.
She's been singing since 1969, was certified as a lay speaker for the United Methodist Church in 1998 and has found her new UU home a closer match for her
theological beliefs.
